Face Lift (Rhytidectomy) is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to help men and women achieve a more youthful facial appearance. As we age, our skin loses its elasticity and begins to sag. This process can leave your face looking tired and worn, with deep wrinkles, hollow cheeks, jowls and loose skin in the lower face and neck. Face Lift can address all of these issues and help you look possibly many years younger.
Depending on your age, or if you have had previous facial work… read carefully below the description of how our surgeon achieves marvelous natural results with the SMAS Face Lift and Round Lift technique.
Our surgeon’s technique (for OVER 20 years) for treating facial ageing consists in the TREATMENT of ALL facial tissue.
Enabling the natural repositioning, leaving very little if ANY signs of surgery, with this natural technique called “ROUND LIFTING”. After surgery, the full balance of the FACE is achieved… SEE photos on www.faceliftmexico.com, for further proof of results of this natural technique!
Several face lift variations are available that differ in their degree of invasiveness (as well as their corresponding costs). The most commonly performed lifts include the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) lift.
After the skin incision is made the skin is separated from the deeper tissues with a scalpel or scissors over the cheeks and neck, the skin is then re-draped. The excess skin is then removed.
Despite their variations, most face lift procedures share certain elements. First, you will be provided with usually local anesthesia combined with IV sedation. You usually will not hear, feel or remember anything.
Your surgeon then will create incisions along your hairline and around your ears following the squiggly line of the ear cartilage, (NEVER straight down in front of the ear) possibly extending into your scalp. Your surgeon then will lift your skin away from your face, rearrange the underlying tissue in a higher position and remove excess skin. He or she may also remove fat with liposuction. Lastly, your surgeon will re-drape your skin over your face and close the incisions with sutures.
1. Incisions usually begin above the hairline at the temples, follow the natural line of the ear cartilage, curve behind the earlobe into the crease behind the ear, and into or along the lower scalp.
2. Facial, neck tissue and muscle may be separated; fat may be trimmed or suctioned and underlying muscle may be tightened.
3. After deep tissues are tightened, the excess skin is pulled up and back, trimmed and sutured into place.
4. Most of the scars will be hidden within your hair and in the normal creases of your skin. Your new face will emerge soon after.
One FaceLift is not like the other. There are various surgical procedures called Facelift. Some Surgeons do ONLY ONE procedure and attempt to adjust it to the Patient’s needs. Other Surgeons take advatnage of a variety of facelifts to maximize the results.
SMAS Face Lift differs from the traditional face lift in that it lifts the deeper layer of the face. SMAS – or superficial musculo-aponeurotic system – is composed of multiple fibrous extensions that attach through the subcutaneous fat to the superficial epidermal-dermal layer of the skin, and these connections cause the three layers of the facial skin to “move together” as a unit. The SMAS attachment is particularly noticeable at the nasolabial folds. The SMAS membrane continues as a layer of smooth fibrous tissue that reaches to the cheekbone below the eye and attaches to the bone as it extends in front of the ear area. A gliding plane, between the SMAS and the underlying structures of the face, allows free movement of the skin unit to create facial expressions. These movements are produced by the superficial muscles of expression.
As facial skin ages, there is gradual loss of elasticity in the epidermal layer of the skin as well as in the SMAS membrane. Gravity produces sagging of the cheek skin unit along the jaw bone – creating those fleshy jowls and often a double chin. This drooping of the fatty portion of the lax skin unit along the jaw area occurs while cheek fat sags forward to increase the prominence of the nasolabial fold. This then descends downward below the mouth to the chin – to become a jowl. The sagging of the SMAS membrane contributes as much to the aging face as does loss of elasticity in the superficial dermal layer. The classic or traditional face lift surgery addresses only the superficial dermal skin unit – and usually results in a “too tight” or pinched look.
A face lift can produce remarkable results. However, the procedure only targets certain parts of the face — namely, the mid-face, lower face and jawline. You may find that other areas of your face require attention in addition to or instead of those areas that can be addressed with a face lift. In this case, your surgeon may recommend additional or alternative procedures which encompass the full face lift procedure:
• Neck lifts are often combined with face lifts. These procedures are used to remove fat and excess skin to eliminate wrinkles and bands and create a smoother, tighter neck appearance.
• Eyelid surgery is performed to address droopy upper eyelids and puffy lower eyelids, which can cause you to appear older and more tired than you feel.
• Temporal lift (forehead lift) possibly enhances the eye area .
• Facial implants are made of silicone and can be placed in your chin, cheek or jaw to improve your overall facial symmetry and proportion.
• Chin surgery may enlarge the chin with implants.
• Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping surgery) can help bring your nose into better proportion with your face by making it larger or smaller. Your surgeon can also remove a hump from your nose or a dip from the bridge of your nose, or otherwise improve your nasal profile.
• Otoplasty (ear surgery) is performed to reduce the appearance of excessively protrusive ears. This is one of the few plastic surgery procedures most often performed on young children.
Other treatments that can be used in combination with — or instead of — a face lift include facial injectables and fillers. Facial injectables include Botox, Dysport and Xeomin, which paralyze wrinkle-producing muscles. Fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane can add volume to sunken cheeks and minimize facial folds. However, these treatments provide temporary results and cannot address severe sagging and jowls the way that a face lift can.
Stem cell face lift is another alternative treatment. Despite its name, a stem-cell face lift is not a face lift. When performing this procedure, your surgeon will remove fat cells from somewhere in your body, process them to activate the stem cells, and re-inject them into your face to add volume and generate new skin cells. Fat transplants may be injected into the upper and lower lips to add a nice plump youthful look. Never over done!
Dermabrasion on the upper and lower lips may be performed with the facelift to achieve a more youthful look
SMAS procedure is the minute lifting of the muscles under the skin (please read the info above). It creates a natural look and can last for 10 years.
A face lift is typically thought of as a procedure for women. However, male face lift surgery is fairly common, with men making up about 20 percent of face lift patients.
While some men may fear that a face lift will make them appear more feminine, this is not the case. A skilled plastic surgeon can enhance rather than minimize the masculine features of a man’s face.
Dear Pat,
I am writing to thank you for Face Lift Mexico and the wonderful package you put together for me. My entire experience in Mexico during me face-lift procedure was nothing short of WONDERFUL!!!
The Doctor met me at the door at the hospital. He was very kind and easy to talk to. He made me feel very comfortable and confident about my decision to let him do my face-lift. It was nice to be in the hospital a couple days after the surgery, to get my strength back and start the healing process. The entire stay at the hospital was pleasant. And just to let your new clients know, there was absolutely no pain involved during my recovery. I was so amazed.
When I arrived at the Casa Morina your daughter, Melinda, greeted me at the door. She is a wonderful hostess and she made me feel very comfortable during my stay. I stayed in a nice room with a beautiful inviting bed that was so very comfortable. Casa Marino is so beautiful and a very peace-filled tranquil place.
It was truly a wonderful experience and I would encourage everyone to come stay at the Casa Marino, even if they were not having surgery. It is a wonderful get-a-way that offers so many opportunities to be pampered and revived. Thank you for putting this wonderful package together for me. I am recommending Face Lift Mexico to all my friends and family.

I never thought I would have a facelift, and I certainly never thought I could afford it. But after recent cosmetic surgery, I now look and feel like a 40-year-old again (I’m 60).
I recently retired and live in San Diego, California, where there are plenty of good plastic surgeons, but their fees are high—around $25,000 as an outpatient.
Why are one million Americans moving to Mexico? There’s a real side of Mexico that you rarely see… And the reason Americans are moving south of the border in droves. I travel to Mexico a lot, and I had heard how much of a positive experience cosmetic surgery here can be. I had heard of places that pamper you and let you recuperate in a beautiful setting after the surgery.
When I found a company I liked, I listened to past patients talk about their experiences, and saw their before and after photos. My surgeon’s fee for a complete facelift is $6,500. This includes a three-night stay in a private room in a state-of-the-art hospital. I decided to stay the rest of the week in a deluxe villa nearby, where I was pampered by staff who are used to patients combining their cosmetic surgeries with a vacation. The villa is tranquil, and I felt relaxed and comfortable the whole time. The modern hospital where I had my cosmetic surgery is located in Celaya city—a 45-minute drive from San Miguel de Allende.
My friends have seen a huge difference and have commented on how good I look.

I know exactly how you feel, I was nervous too, but I am so glad I did it. The surgeon is the one who does all the facelifts on Pat Marino’s program. Shea interviewed tons of different doctors but for lots of reasons she settled on him. She will tell you all about that. I had no complications, but part of the reason I chose to do it in Mexico is that you are in a hospital with full staff and facilities rather than in a doctor’s office as an outpatient the way it is commonly done in the States. I also asked Pat what if I am not happy about how it turns out, and she said the Doctor would welcome any patient back at no extra charge. I guess this never happens, she says the only complaint she has ever heard is that the results were on the conservative side. It has now been 3 months since my surgery and most people who notice a change think it is my hair. I really haven’t changed my hair, but people have complimented my “new hairdo” saying I look 20 years younger with my hair this way! Did Pat tell you I kept it a secret from my husband who was away for a month, and always was opposed adamantly to cosmetic surgery. He came back 2 and a half weeks after my surgery and didn’t notice it. My experience was the bruising was almost gone by about two weeks, but my face was still a little tight and swollen, and people would notice something odd. If you want to do it without anybody realizing it stay away three weeks. I wish I had stayed longer because it turned out to be one of the best holidays I’ve ever had… The results are very natural looking.
Good luck, MariMari, Patient
Having a facelift under the auspices of the cosmetic surgeon and his skilled team is a dream and should be the only way to go for that major surgery. I was very scared, as you know, but as soon as I got to Celaya and met the cosmetic surgeon and Andrea, I knew I was in capable hands and knew it would work well. They are, as advertised, the two nicest and most caring, fun and warm people I’ve ever met…and when you meet him, you just KNOW he’s going to take your face and treat it right! He did that with me. I am still healing, of course, but I can tell the results will be very good. I look like myself, except more “refreshed”, which is important when considering facelift surgery, because you don’t want to come out of it looking younger but like someone else! They did all the testing and consultation when I got there and I’m basically a healthy gal, so that went well. One who is considering this surgery should be in overall good health and get “in training” by
exercising, etc., as much as possible before the trip, because I think it makes it easier. The Surgeon is absolutely delightful in every way, really knows “his stuff” and Brad and I felt like the most fun of the trip was riding over from Celaya to San Miguel with them, talking about politics and history and a whole bunch of stuff and getting to know them. He’s an incredibly bright man, and very down-to-earth. Great person. I am about to write him a thank-you note.
Fondly, Mary Lynn
